One of the first-ever Telugu short film stars to carve their niche in the feature film industry, Chandini Chowdary is finally getting scripts that match her talent. While she’ll next be seen in Bombhaat alongside Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi-fame actor Sushant Reddy, she was in the news recently for signing up Hrudaya Kaleyam maker’s home production titled Colour Photo.
And she received much acclaim for her 2019 web series Gods of Dharmapuri that released on Zee5 as well, where she played the on-screen romantic interest (and wife) of actor Satyadev. Reflecting on her role in the series, she told Binged.com,
“I am happy to get back to a medium that opened me the doors of the film industry in the first place. The medium gives you the right amount of space for you to evolve as an artist.”
She found it extremely challenging to play a role that had no similarity with her real-life personality.
“That character I played was of a woman who had a singular goal of marrying the man of her dreams, which isn’t relatable for me. But the task for me as an actor was to make her intentions feel believable, which I feel I have done,”
Chandini said to Binged.com
One of the most significant roles in her career was in the film Manu, which despite its innovative storytelling couldn’t make it big at the ticket window. However, Chandini hasn’t taken its commercial failure to heart.
“Netflix has opened us to a much wider audience and the comments we have been receiving has been nothing short of overwhelming. I gave my heart and soul to the role and this response is heartening,”
