Producer Charles Roven has given an exciting update about the ‘Uncharted’ sequel.
Sony dropped the official movie adaptation of the acclaimed ‘Uncharted’ video game franchise last year. Helmed by Ruben Fleischer, the Tom Holland starrer grossed over $400 million against its $120 million budget, an impressive box office figure but not as impressive as the collections of Holland’s Spider-Man movies. But it was enough to inspire Sony to greenlight a sequel.
After waiting for more than a year since the film’s release in February 2022, fans have finally received some good news about the film’s sequel from producer Charles Roven.
This is what Roven said about the ‘Uncharted’ sequel in his recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
“We had a really good time with that movie. The fans really liked the movie, and people who didn’t know anything about the game really liked the movie. So we are definitely looking to make another one of those.”
The 2022 film revolves around Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake, who gets recruited by Mark Wahlberg’s Victor Sullivan to find the treasure of the Magellan expedition. Things get chaotic after the corrupt and powerful billionaire Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas) also starts hunting the fabled treasure.
Distributed by Sony, Uncharted was the joint production of Columbia Pictures, PlayStation Productions, Arad Productions, and Atlas Entertainment. You can stream the film on SonyLIV. Stay tuned for more updates.
