Charlize Theron to Produce Series Adaptation of DC Comic “You Brought Me the Ocean”.

Charlize Theron can not only kick asses but also can produce kick-ass content. The “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “The Old Guard” star Charlize Theron is executive producing the series adaptation of DC Comic “You Brought Me The Ocean” at HBO Max. The characters of the show are based on the young adult and graphic novel by Alex Sanchez and Jul Maroh.

The 2020 published DC comic “You Brought Me The Ocean” is centered around a closeted teenager as he deals with his sexuality and slowly emerging superpowers.Jake Hyde, the lead protagonist can’t swim but he moves to a college on the coastal area. Future looks bleak for Jake, and the bleakness multiplies as he finds himself attracted to swim team captain Kenny Liu coupled with his coming out struggles.

The mystery around Jake intensifies when he develops strange glowing blue marks on his skin in contact with water. What are his actual super-powers? How will he find them as he searches for his identity? Will he retreat Or jump right into the uncertainties and depths the waves offer him?

Through her Denver & Delilah Films, Theron is executive producing the dramedy series with Warner Bros. Television as the primary and principle studio. “You Brought Me The Ocean” is one amongst the many projects at HBO and HBO Max where Theron is directly involved since the first look deal she signed with HBO last year.
