Check Out Lionsgate Play Hot Lineup For Summer 2022!

Lionsgate Play has dropped back to back trailers of its upcoming content and it all looks pretty interesting. The lineup that includes both films and series ranges from spy fiction, political thriller, horror comedy, crime drama to thriller drama.

First up is Naomi Watts starrer film ‘The Desperate Hour’. This fast paced thriller drama is about a small town grieving mother who lost her husband and lives with her teenage son, Noah. One day while on a run in the woods, she finds out that her town is put on lockdown due to a shooting incident at her son’s school. The suspects have his son and she is not ready to just sit and watch. While her town’s in chaos she tries everything to save her son. Will she be able to do so or will the time run out?

Directed by Phillip Noyce, ‘The Desperate Hour’ stars Naomi Watts and Colton Gobbo in lead roles. Written by Chris Sparkling, ‘The Desperate Hour’ will start streaming soon exclusively on Lionsgate Play.

The second in the list is a crime drama series titled ‘Tokyo Vice’ based on a 2009 book of the same name by Jake Adelstein. Set in the 1990s, it follows an American journalist Jake Adelstein who moves to Tokyo to work in a major Japanese newspaper. He there joins the Tokyo Vice police squad to reach the seedy underbelly of the city.

‘Tokyo Vice’ stars Ansel Elgort, Ken Watanabe, Rachel Keller and Ella Rumpf among others. The series will start streaming on Lionsgate Play from 29th April, 2022 onwards.

Next up is an American political thriller limited series ‘Gaslit’ that is based on season 1 of ‘Slow Burn’ a podcast by Leon Neyfakh. Centered around the Watergate Scandal of the 1970s, the series follows Martha Mitchell, a celebrity Arkansan socialite and wife to Richard Nixon’s loyal Attorney General, John N. Mitchell. She lets out many a secrets, unravelling both her personal life and the American presidency.

Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, Dan Stevens, Betty Gilpin, Shea Whigham and more star in ‘Gaslit’ that will come to Lionsgate Play on 22nd April, 2022.

Then comes the fifth and final season of Italian crime drama series ‘Gomorrah’ that is created by Roberto Saviano and is based on his eponymous book. Set in Naples the series follows Ciro Di Marzio, the trusted right hand of Don Pietro who rules the Camorra. Gamorrah season 5 will launch on Lionsgate Play on 1st April, 2022.

Remember Monica from Friends? Well the next in line is a horror comedy series starring Courtney Cox in the lead. The Phelps are a dysfunctional family who move to the country and into a house with terrible past to rebuild their family. Patricia, a writer, needs to find her muse while her husband is busy with work and her teenage daughter ignores her. Soon she starts seeing a ghost in the house who scares her like hell but together they start writing a story that’s pretty impressive.

Starring Courtney Cox, Greg Kinnear, Gus Birney, Merrin Dungey, Dylan Gage and Mira Sorvino, ‘Shining Vale’ will stream exclusively on Lionsgate Play from June 2022.

Last but not the least is the spy thriller drama ‘The Ipcress File’, a loose adaptation of the 1962 Len Deighton novel. Harry Palmer is taken out of prison to help locate and retrieve a missing person. Will he unwittingly stop the Cold War from ending in a global calamity?

Written by John Hodge and directed by James Watkins, ‘The Ipcress File’ stars Joe Cole, Lucy Boynton and Tom Hollander in pivotal roles. The series will start streaming exclusively on Lionsgate Play from May 2022.
