The cast for the new series for Disney+, ‘The Artful Dodger’ is announced. It is an Australian period drama with international characters set in the 1850s. This series will show and portray the famous Charles Dickens character Dodger in a twisted way.
It will be an eight episode series that will tell the story of Jack Dawkins or ‘Dodger’ who is a surgeon but cannot get rid of his passion for crime. The lead character will be played by Brodie Sangster famous for his roles in ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, ‘Pistol’ etc. David Thewlis of ‘Landscapers’ and ‘Fargo’ and Maia Mitchell, who acted in ‘Good Trouble’, ‘The Fosters’ are also in the lead cast. Thewlis will play Fagin and Mitchell will be seen in the role of Lady Belle Fox.
It has a talented supporting cast of Damon Herriman who acted previously in ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’, Miranda Tapsell, Tim Minchin, Susie Porter, Luke Caroll, Nicholas Burton, Damien Gurvy and many others.
The Artful Dodger will have elements of comedy and of a suspense thriller too. It will be a good show to watch with family. The series is being produced by Beach Road Pictures and SPT’s Curio Pictures and co-produced by Sony Pictures Television. The series is written by James McNamara, Andrew Knight, Vivienne Walshe and Dan Knight, with Miranda Tapsell. There was previously a tv series on the famous character by the name of ‘Dodger’ that starred Christopher Eccleston which was quite well accepted by the audiences. Now this ambitious project of Disney+ has high hopes with fans and it will be a good hit with them once it is premiered on the platform.
