The world is evolving, we are getting horror films that are long past merely jumpscares. We are getting films like Longlegs and Smile that explore various nuances of psychology as horror films. However, Indian movies are still more or less dependent on decades-old jumpscares when it comes to scaring people.
The trailer of Chhorii 2 proves just that. It is at best a mediocre jumpscare compilation. The trailer explores some other angles such as patriarchy, female infanticide and power dynamics. If those elements are done right then the movie could be better but as of now, it doesn’t look like such a situation.
The trailer features Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead role, alongside Soha Ali Khan, Gashmeer Mahajani and Saurabh Goyal.
Normally, Prime Video does not produce many original films, but over the past few months, we have seen a change in attitude. We are getting more films than usual, and it is a good thing.
