Chinese film ‘Warriors Of Future’ has minted money at the Chinese & Hong Kong box office, ever since the film released in China & Hong Kong theatres in August. The sci-fi movie received a lot of praise for its stylised action, computer-generated visual effects and performances of the cast. ‘Warriors Of Future’ became the highest grossing Chinese-language film in Hong Kong of all time.
OTT giant Netflix acquired the worldwide streaming rights of ‘Warriors Of Future’. The move came as Netflix is looking to bolster its Chinese content slate, after doing the same with Korean, Indonesian and Thai content. ‘Warriors Of Future’ will hence stream across the world on Netflix. Netflix had also announced the streaming release date for ‘Warriors Of Future’. The sci-fi action thriller will premiere on Netflix worldwide on December 2, in English and Chinese languages.
‘Warriors Of Future’ is directed by renowned visual effects artist Ng Yuen-Fai, in his directorial debut. The film stars Louis Koo, Sean Lau Ching Wan, Carina Lau, Philip Keung, Tse Kwan-ho, Janice Wu, Wan Guopeng, Nick Cheung, Eddy Ko, and Sakurako Okubo, among others.
The Chinese film ‘Warriors Of Future’ is set in the future, in 2055 specifically. The Earth is now barren, ravaged by pollution, global warming and killer robots. Only a handful of humans remain on the planet. A meteorite carrying a fast-growing alien vine known as “Pandora” crashes onto Earth. “Pandora” purifies the air, but kills all life in its path. As Hong Kong’s military tries to save humanity by attempting to destroy Pandora, it uncovers a sinister conspiracy.
