Chris Pine Believes ‘Dungeons & Dragons 2’ Will Happen, And It Should

Chris Pine is very optimistic about the odds of Dungeons & Dragons 2. The Star Trek actor recently had an interview with Gamesradar+, where he promoted Disney’s upcoming animated project, Wish. He also discussed the possibility of D&D 2 in that interview.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves turned out to be a huge critical success. It currently has a 91% ‘fresh’ RT score based on over 300 reviews. However, the film failed to leave a strong impression in terms of financial performance, earning only $208 million globally against its production budget of $150 million.

According to ScreenRant, Honor Among Thieves’ collections suffered due to Paramount’s poor marketing of the film. Plus, it struggled against Illumination’s The Super Mario Bros Movie, which grossed over $1.3 billion.

This is what Pine said in this interview:

“I’ve heard some rumours about it. But I don’t know anything yet. But I feel pretty confident that it may happen.”

In addition, Pine has revealed that he will return if Paramount confirms the sequel.

However, a film’s financial performance does not define its brilliance. The latest D&D feature excelled where the original trilogy (2000-2012) failed. It benefitted tremendously from the directional work of Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. The duo is also known to write the stories of Spider-Man: Homecoming and The Flash. They brilliantly apply the MCU’s formula of blending action and comedy, along with keeping a solid emotional core, in the latest D&D instalment. The film commences as an ordinary heist movie and then turns into an epic fantasy tale.

The film’s cast, starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Rege-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant, does one hell of a job. Plus, Lorne Balfe’s gripping score makes the movie worth watching.

Paramount should take into consideration the reasons mentioned earlier to make Dungeons & Dragons 2. As for Disney’s Wish, it will come out in theatres on November 22. Stay tuned for more updates.
