Considering Chris Pratt’s voice work in The Super Mario Bros Movie, it is safe to say that the on-screen Star-Lord should stay away from animated projects for some time. But that’s not going to happen soon as he is the protagonist of Sony’s upcoming animated project, The Garfield Movie. The film’s trailer is enduring a lot of hate, thanks to Pratt’s voice as the lazy and cynical orange cat.
Many viewers have strongly criticised Pratt’s voice work as Garfield, pointing out the lack of effort from the actor. Some have also commented that there are better actors than the GOTG star who could have portrayed the character perfectly. In addition, several viewers have negatively compared his voice performance with Bill Murray’s voice work in Garfield: The Movie (2004) and its sequel, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006).
Here are some of the Twitter (X) reactions towards Chris Pratt’s Garfield voice. And they do not look good at all!
Some viewers are supporting Bill Murray and demanding his return for the role of Garfield.
The Garfield Movie is Chris Pratt’s fifth voice role, after The Lego Movie (2014), The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019), Onward (2020), and The Super Mario Bros Movie. The last one earned over $1.3 billion globally, which indicates that the actor’s name does bring money to studios.
Apart from Chris Pratt, The Garfield Movie stars Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Nicholas Hoult, Ving Rhames, and many more talents. Check out the trailer below!
