Following a recently revealed picture in which Chris Hemsworth was seen posing with co-star Matt Damon and director Taika Waititi, now ‘The Dark Knight’ actor Christian Bale was recently seen in another picture, with a shaved head, apparently clicked while shooting for his upcoming film ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’.
The film is a sequel to the 2017 film ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, which featured Hollywood hunk Chris Hemsworth reprising his role as the God of Thunder.
Interestingly, Christian Bale is one of the actors who has portrayed characters from both DC Entertainment and its longstanding competitor Marvel Studios.
An intense actor, Bale is well known for portraying roles in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Batman trilogy’, Nolan’s underrated film ‘The Prestige’ (co-starring Hugh Jackman), McG’s ‘Terminator Salvation’ (co-starring Sam Worthington), James Mangold’s terrific sports drama ‘Ford vs Ferrari’ (co-starring Matt Damon), and the 2013 black comedy film ‘American Hustle’.
The 47-year-old method actor was also admired for his extraordinary transformation for Brad Anderson’s film ‘The Machinist’, in which he impeccably played the role of a guilt-ridden insomniac.
Bale had also won an Academy Award for ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role’ for the 2010 boxing film ‘The Fighter’, which also starred Mark Wahlberg.
Furthermore, he is expected to reunite with filmmaker Scott Cooper (after ‘Out of the Furnace’ and ‘Hostiles’) for another film ‘The Pale Blue Eye’, in which he is said to be playing a veteran detective. Bale is also reportedly set to feature in an untitled David O. Russel project.
In the upcoming fourth Thor film, Bale is apparently playing the role of ‘Gorr the God Butcher’. In Marvel Comics, the fictional supervillain is said to have grown up on a barren planet with no Gods to help him. After his family dies, he vows to kill the Gods, who did not help him despite their existence.
‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is being helmed by New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi. He had earlier director Hemsworth in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’, besides directing an episode of the acclaimed television show ‘The Mandalorian’. An untitled ‘Star Wars’ film to be reportedly directed by him, has also been announced.
‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is currently slated for a May 2022 release. It is said to feature a star-studded cast including Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Russel Crowe, Matt Damon, Sam Neill, and of course, Christian Bale.
