As per a recent update by Warner Bros. Pictures, American actress Christina Ricci is set to join the star-studded cast of the highly anticipated sequel to the mind-bending ‘The Matrix’ films.
The sci-fi actioners were helmed by the eminent filmmaker-duo –the Wachowskis. Christina Ricci had previously acted in the 2008 film ‘Speed Racer’, which was also directed by the Wachowskis.
Besides, Christina Ricci has worked in films such as ‘The Addams Family’, ‘Casper’, ‘The Ice Storm’, ‘Sleepy Hollow’, ‘Monster’ and the legal comedy series ‘Ally McBeal’, to name a few.
The Matrix sequel already boasts an ensemble star cast. Lead actor Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as Neo. Furthermore, the film will also feature Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Daniel Bernhardt, Lambert Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, and Jonathan Groff, amongst others.
Moreover, there is good news for the Indian audience too. Proficient Indian actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas is also said to have a key role in this fourth Matrix film. Although exact details of her role are not yet confirmed. Because the makers of the film are keeping the project details including the plot, etc. under wraps.
Nevertheless, the Matrix sequel would certainly be a worthy addition to Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Hollywood resume, which includes projects like ‘Quantico’, ‘Baywatch’ and the upcoming mini-series ‘Citadel’.
Interestingly, the yet-untitled Matrix sequel will be directed by only Lana Wachowski. Previously, the three Matrix movies were helmed by both the Wachowskis i.e., Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski.
The first film titled ‘The Matrix’ released in the year 1999. Its humungous critical and commercial success was followed by two sequels namely ‘The Matrix Reloaded’ and ‘The Matrix Revolutions’.
‘The Matrix’ is a dystopian science-fiction actioner that revolves around a highly evolved Artificial Intelligence, which traps mankind in what was described as the AI’s power source – A virtual reality system called ‘The Matrix’. The character of Keanu Reeves (as Neo), Carrie-Anne Moss (as Trinity), and Lawrence Fishburne (as Morpheus) fight against the evil system to free humanity.
