Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan has put the long-running rumour of him helming the new James Bond movie to rest. The globally prominent filmmaker is enjoying his time outside the world of movie franchises. Many fans have shared their excitement on social media about the prospects of what he could do with Ian Fleming’s creation. Well, a grain of salt is recommended for all Bond fans!
In his recent talk with the Associated Press, Nolan revealed that he would not helm the next James Bond film.
“No, sadly, no,” said Nolan. “No truth to those rumours, but I’m very thrilled the strike is over, and we can all get back to work.”
Nolan has constantly praised the James Bond franchise, making many believe that the director was interested in directing a movie based on OO7’s adventures. In addition, many of the latest online reports focused on Barbara Broccoli having talks with Nolan about collaborating for a new Bond project.
The Dark Knight director is known to take full creative control of films before deciding to start filming them. And this scenario must not have sat well with Broccoli and other Bond producers. We do not know the real reason yet, but it is clear that Christopher Nolan will not direct the next James Bond project.
The OO7 flicks are known for their style, luxury cars, beautiful women, high-octane action sequences, and the wit and charm of the protagonist himself, James Bond.
It is not the first time that creative issues have emerged in the Bond franchise. The last entry, No Time To Die (2021), was helmed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who replaced the Slumdog Millionaire fame, Danny Boyle. Issues related to creative control forced Boyle to step down from his directional duties in the 2021 Bond flick.
