‘Chup’ Early Shows: Are They Taking A Big Risk?

R. Balki is going to hold a free view of his next film ‘Chup‘ for the audience. The screenings will be in 10 major cities: Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Gurgaon, Jaipur and Hyderabad.

The film is certified ‘A’ by CBFC and 9t is set to release on 23rd of September. The freeview tickets were sold out in a few minutes after the announcement and the start of the registration.

The film stars Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Pooja Bhatt. Dulquer Salman tasted massive success with ‘Sita Ramam’ just a few days back and it has been received with great appreciation from audiences as well as critics. ‘Chup’ is a serial killer thriller with a filmmaker out for avenging his Art. The film gives tribute to the legendary Guru Dutt in many ways.

The promotional strategy taken up by the makers of the film is a unique one and never happened in India before. But it has a serious risk of losing its flow in the box office as well. So many tickets reserved for free across India shows the confidence of the producers and distributors that the film is capable enough to attract audiences further than that. But if the film disappoints after the free show, there will be a huge loss as the number of audience will start to wane. The overconfidence regarding this strategy can prove to be a bad move. Considering the increasing popularity of Dulquer Salman all over India, ‘Chup’ can also turn out to be a historic superhit.
