R. Balki’s ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist’ starring Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Deol’s first reactions are out after the previews. With the extremely positive response from the audience( both fans and critics), it seems apt to say that after Sita Ramam, Dulquer Salmaan has struck the bullseye again, this time in Bollywood.
The makers of Chup had taken a brave step by using a risky yet innovative strategy of showing the movie for free to both fans and critics, unlike the usual practice of first showing the movie to the critics in previews and then letting the normal audience come in, usually after the critics review the film. This move shows just how confident the makers were in their product and the reactions to the movie validate their efforts in a big way.
Hitting all the right notes, the innovative thriller ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist’ is being called what Akshay Kumar’s ‘Cuttputlli’ aspired to be. With many calling the movie the best Hindi film of this year, R. Balki’s direction and Dulquer’s solid performance are what many call the highlights of the film. The movie is being called Bollywood’s equivalent of Tamil Industry’s ‘Raatsasa’ and Malayalam Industry’s ‘Anjaam Paathira’ both critically acclaimed crime thrillers of the respective industries that went on to become blockbusters as well.
The movie also starring Shreya Dhanwanthary and Pooja Bhatt is being termed bold and gripping and is the story of a serial killer who has a bone to pick with critics. The movie is lauded as a well-written and executed theatrical experience and will release in theatres on 23rd September 2022. Dulquer has already given two film industries- Malayalam and Telugu- a blockbuster each post-pandemic in the form of ‘Kurup’ and ‘Sita Ramam’. It would be interesting if the Dulquer could do the same in Bollywood, with juggernaut ‘Brahamstra Part 1: Shiva’ doing well in theatres even in its third week.
