First came ‘The Social Dilemma’ – Netflix‘s terrifying docufilm on how human beings have become slaves to social media. And now we have ‘Chutzpah’, SonyLIV’s new and edgy take on the same world of social media. However, SonyLIV, and partner in crime Maddock Films, have created an engaging fictional narrative, centred on the world of social media. While ‘The Social Dilemma’ scared the living daylights out of us, ‘Chutzpah’ will make us think and ponder on the banality—or popularity, depends on how you look at it—of how social media has taken over our lives.
Told through the social media shenanigans of a bunch of young adults, Chutzpah weaves a scintillating story around the world of hashtags, filters, likes, shares and subscribe! As you can guess, SonyLIV’s new original series is a fun, entertaining and potent story that showcases the power of social media and highlights the overwhelming influence that social media wields over the youth of today.
Chutzpah is produced by Dinesh Vijan, of Maddock Films, who’s earlier produced films such as Stree, Go Goa Gone, Hindi Medium, among others. The series is produced under Maddock Outsider, the digital arm of his company. An out-and-out entertainer, Chutzpah is written by Amit Babbar and Mrighdeep Singh, and directed by Simarpreet Singh.
The ensemble cast of Chutzpah comprises some of the most exciting upcoming actors of the present generation of performers. Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh Gautam Mehra, Tanya Maniktala, Elnaaz Norouzi, Kshitij Chauhan, Diksha Singh and Varun Tewari are some of the names in the cast.
SonyLIV dropped a small teaser for Chutzpah – its next original show after the successful Maharani. The Chutzpah teaser gives a fleeting glimpse of some of the characters, and lots of edgy computer-generated graphics. There’s no release date on SonyLIV announced for Chutzpah yet.
