After his huge win at the Oscars, Cillian Murphy is all set to return to one of the most popular characters played by him. Murphy will be returning as Thomas Shelby, but this time in a film, not in a series. Netflix has announced that it has greenlit a new film on the popular show and Cillian Murphy will be returning as Shelby. He will also be producing the film alongside Stephen Knight, the creator of ‘Peaky Blinders’.
The movie will be made in association with BBC Films and shooting will commence later this year. There were rumours previously about having a film based on the Peaky Blinders, but there was no confirmation to now. Having the official announcements, fans of the show are excited and they hope all characters: John, Michael and Arthur Shelby, Grace Burgess, Aunt Polly etc return for the film. However, the casting and plot details are still under wraps.
It will be good if there is a major portion in the film that deals with the war days of Thomas Shelby and it will cover the needs of the other actors if they are not roped in. The release date and other information will be revealed soon. Cillian Murphy has said, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me…It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of ‘Peaky Blinders.’ This is one for the fans.” Tom Harper will be directing the movie.
