Cillian Murphy’s Psychological Thriller Is Now Streaming On Netflix

The smashing success of Oppenheimer has once again put the spotlight on its lead star Cillian Murphy. To cash in on the Cillian Murphy craze, streaming giant Netflix has re-released an old Cillian Murphy movie on its platform. And guess what, the film is trending on Netflix almost 20 years after it first released in theatres.

The film we’re talking about is ‘Red Eye’ and it is now available to stream on Netflix India. Also, let us tell you that ‘Red Eye’ is a must-watch for fans of Cillian Murphy, and also fans of psychological thrillers. The film is a tense and gripping psychological thriller film that gets on your nerves and stays in your mind long after you’ve finished watching it.

What also makes Red Eye an exciting proposition is that it is directed by the excellent Wes Craven, master of horror films, and maker of such compelling films as the ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ franchise, the ‘Scream’ franchise, The Hills Have Eyes and many more. Red Eye is the rare film in Wes Craven’s repertoire that is not horror but a psychological thriller.

Released in 2005, ‘Red Eye’ is written by Carl Ellsworth, based on a story by Ellsworth and Dan Foos. Cillian Murphy plays a charming man, Jackson, who befriends hotel manager, Lisa (played by Rachel McAdams), whom he meets at the airport while waiting for his flight to Miami. They strike up a fledgling friendship, taking it forward even while aboard their red-eye flight to Miami.

Soon, however, Lisa discovers the chance meeting with Jackson was all planned, with an underlying sinister motive behind Jackson’s actions. Behind all that charm lies a ruthless terrorist who plans to assassinate the United States Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, who’s put up at Lisa’s hotel.

Though Red Eye might have flown under the radar today, it garnered great reviews back in 2005, with Cillian Murphy’s chilling act coming in for special praise from critics and audiences. Red Eye still proves to be an excellent watch, even 20 years after its release. Red Eye also stars Brian Cox (Succession) in a key role.

Cillian Murphy’s Red Eye is now streaming on Netflix India. If psychological thrillers are your thing, be sure to watch it this weekend.
