CinemaCon 2024: DC’s James Gunn Unveils “Summer Of Superman” For 2025

A new look at James Gunn’s Superman film has been revealed at this year’s CinemaCon event. The upcoming David Corenswet starrer is one of the most highly anticipated entries in Chapter 1 of the DCU’s ‘Gods and Monsters’ phase.

The pre-production work (costume design, production design, and the casting procedure) for Gunn’s Superman commenced in April last year. And its filming began in February this year. According to recent reports, Gunn has completed filming nearly 20% of the film.

The Warner Bros’ panel was also present at CinemaCon 2024. Through that panel, fans witnessed a new logo for Superman, which looks like “a bright red and yellow” emblem. In addition, the panel shared a video of James Gunn from the sets of Superman. The GOTG helmer promised that he would attend the event next year along with the film’s entire cast, which consists of talents like David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Carrigan, Nicholas Hoult, Wendell Pierce, and more.

The newest Superman logo looks similar to the ‘Kingdom Come Superman’ emblem, which emerged from Mark Waid and Alex Ross’ infamous Kingdom Come (May 1996) comic book series. This version of Man of Steel has appeared in Arrowverse’ Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, played by Brandon Routh.

The Superman emblem from the ‘Kingdom Come’ storyline has a black background behind the S-Shield. On the other hand, Gunn’s Superman emblem has the traditional red and yellow combo.

James Gunn’s Superman will arrive in theatres worldwide on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
