Civil War: Release Date Changes For Alex Garland’s A24 Film

The release window of Alex Garland’s upcoming political action flick, Civil War, has been moved up. Earlier, it was set to come out in theatres on April 26, 2024. Now, it will be released on April 12.

A24 decided to change the date of Civil War’s release to give it more IMAX screens than before. This move from the popular indie production house also saved the Alex Garland directional from facing direct competition from Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, which stars Zendaya in the leading role.

Civil War now has at least two weeks to recoup its $50 million budget. The film is A24’s most expensive project to date. It will revolve around a group of journalists traveling across the US amidst a rapidly escalating global-level civil war. The people of the US struggle to survive in this climate. Things take a wild turn after the country’s government adopts the approach of dictatorship, which forces numerous extremist militias to commit acts of political violence regularly.

Civil War has talents like Kirsten Dunst, Cailee Spaeny, Wagner Moura, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Nick Offerman, and Jesse Plemons. Offerman will play the US president in this one. Apart from his helming duties, Alex Garland has also written the film’s script. He is best known for helming critically acclaimed movies like Ex Machina (2015), Annihilation (2018), and Men (2022).
