Cloud-Based Streaming: Way Ahead For The Indian OTT Industry!

Cloud-Based Streaming Way Ahead For The Indian OTT Industry!

Gone are the carefree days when clouds referred only to the blobs of white vapours floating around carelessly in the sky. With the rampant advent of technology, even ‘clouds’ have taken on a new meaning. To put it in simple layman terms, ‘the cloud’ is a global network of remote servers that operate as a single ecosystem.

These ‘clouds’ are not entirely on-site infrastructures, but are developed over the Internet. With the exponential surge in the popularity of over-the-top (OTT) platforms, the demand for Cloud-based services has increased in the country, especially as the Indian OTT market is expected to move towards an INR 30,000 Crore mark in the leftover years of this decade.

However, the demand for Cloud-based media broadcasting has not been met with an equivalent supply of it as traditional broadcasting channels refuse to transition over concerns of security, content reach, as well as overall control over the content.

This is causing them to miss out on a significant proportion of opportunities by relying solely on hardware systems of broadcasting. Moreover, large-scale delivery of content in a properly scheduled manner continues to become a problem with the ever-increasing demand for accessible content.

Thus, as it is commonly expressed, the only way forward for traditional streamers is to ensure a steady transition to software systems. Not only will this help them expand their user base through software systems, but it will also ensure that they are keeping in tandem with the continuously evolving trends of the industry.
