The fifth season of ‘Cobra Kai’ was released on Netflix on September 9, 2022, and consisted of 10 episodes. Receiving positive reviews from both fans and critics, the martial arts drama is expected to return for another season. Now, the creators have teased us with further developments regarding the beloved series.
‘Cobra Kai‘ creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg spoke with Variety about the Season 5 ending and where they want to go with a possible Season 6. They talked about having more stories to tell, ‘if’ there were a possible Season 6. “There’s plenty in store, lots of thoughts going forward. There’s a lot we want to do with these characters and we’re giddy about that next step. ”
The creators did talk about Kreese (Martin Kove) supposedly being the main antagonist in the rumored next season, having faked his death and escaped from prison. With Kreese back in the picture, there’s no telling what he might do. As an escaped prisoner, he’ll be desperate and he will prove troublesome. He will in all probability be more of a threat than Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith).
Another possible event that will push the beloved characters will be the international karate tournament called the Sekai Taikai. Commenting on the same, they briefed: “All these kids are gaining in skill in terms of karate power, so you have to create a new obstacle for them to deal with. It felt like in the real world, that’s what would happen. If you’re the best around in karate, what are you going to do? Maybe there’s something beyond just your local area.” With this subplot, Cobra Kai might finally be going global!
All the beloved main characters put aside their rivalries to vanquish Silver.
Cobra Kai students have lost their evil sensei, could they jump ship and join Miyagi-Do is another question that has many wondering. With many cliffhangers and the creators already knowing the direction they need to go in with the characters, fans are already demanding another season.
Though Netflix hasn’t officially greenlighted the new season, the probability is high, since the numbers Season 5 is raking in are huge. The series entered the coveted 100 million viewing hours 3 days upon release and is already a hit. With Netflix TUDUM coming up, lets hope for another heart-thumping return of the loved characters.
