Cobra Kai Producers Tease Season 5 Casting

There has been no official update on when fans may expect season 5 of cobra kai to drop but its producers have teased on what to expect from the casting of the upcoming season. Speaking on the red carpet of the Producers Guild Awards (PGA) 2022, the producers provided a sneak peak into the casting ideas for the next season.

When asked “who they were still angling to get and who would they need for the upcoming season”, the producers replied that revealing this would be potential spoiler territory. However, they did say that “every single actor who has ever been in a Karate Kid movie, we know they exist, and we are always thinking of different ideas”. They suggested that any character who has been part of the Karate Kid movies could potentially show up in the Cobra Kai series.

The ending of Season 4 has already teased the return of one of Terry Silver’s friends. As a parting shot to Kreese when he gets arrested, Silver tells Kreese, “I’m sure I can dig up an old friend or two to help out with Cobra Kai while you deal with your legal problems.” Fans believe this is most likely to be Mike Barnes, played by actor Sean Kanan. In The Karate Kid Part III, Terry recruits Mike to take Daniel down.

Apart from this, fans would also love to see Dutch (played by Chad McQueen). He was Johnny’s friend in the original Cobra Kai movies. The producers had approached McQueen for Cobra Kai Season 2 but the actor could not make a return. Hopefully, the producers get lucky this time around.

One of the most demanded, but difficult, returns would be that of Julie Pierce. She was played by Hilary Swank. Julie Pierce was Swank’s debut role in 1994’s The Next Karate Kid. The actress has suggested in interviews that she would be up for a return. If the producers of Cobra Kai can pull off this casting coup, it will delight fans the most.

We have seen various characters/actors from Cobra Kai reprise their roles from the Karate kid movies. But viewers want more of it. The producers of Cobra Kai know this and their statement at the PGA 2022 is surely going to increase the hype around season 5 of the show.
