From the last 2 years there has been a sudden boom in the OTT market, with the acclaim and reach Sacred Games, Made In Heaven, Delhi Crime etc got, it only increased the confidence of the Indian makers to pursue more in this field. Now with the pandemic there has been a surge in consuming the OTT content by the audience and that’s where new OTT platforms have scored. They have come up with a different plan than the others through there apt product positioning.
Okay what is India famous for? Yes you are correct for it’s Diversity! There are ample languages spoken by people and this has encouraged makers to bring a platform which is dedicated for that particular language. Meaning that OTT Platform will exclusively have content in that language only. This stategy is gaining momentum as with the arrival of platforms like :- Hoichoi which is dedicated to Bengali Language or Aha Video which is exclusively for Telugu content. Infact after seeing the response these platforms are getting, recently the Malayalam industry launced – ‘Koode’ meaning ‘With You’, an exclusive OTT platform only for Malayalam language content.
Seeing this, there are bound to be competitors who will be looking to venture into the market and seems like we already got one. FILIM is a new platform which is going to be exclusively for Telugu Content. While Aha has grabbed the trust and market for the native language content, FILIM is looking to make a name of it’s own. Reportedly to counter Aha, FILIM’s subscription rate is going to be lesser than the former and much affordable, and for the cherry, the platform will have a huge library of already released movie and will look forward to bring new movies directly into their platform.
The platform is reportedly eyeing it’s formal launch just near the time of Dussehra meaning in the month of October. To gain the attention of the viewers, FILIM will premiere Vijay Sethupathi’s Pizza in the platform!
