CONFIRM! Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’ To Premiere At Venice Film Festival

By Binged Bureau - Jun 17, 2021 @ 05:06 pm

Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures much anticipated epic science fiction feature film ‘Dune‘ is now confirmed to have a world premiere out of competition at the 78th Venice Film Festival that will take place in September this year.

‘Dune’ is the big screen adaptation of Frank Herbert’s seminal bestseller novel of the same name. The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve who has also penned the screenplay alongside Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth. Oscar winning and multiple Oscar nominated composer Hans Zimmer (‘Blade Runner 2049’, ‘Inception’, ‘Gladiator’) has created the score for the film.

As per the official synopsis, a mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence — a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential — only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

‘Dune’ boasts an ensemble cast of Timothée Chalamet (‘Call Me By Your Name’, ‘Little Women’), Rebecca Ferguson (‘Doctor Sleep’, ‘Mission Impossible – Fallout’), Oscar Isaac (‘Star Wars’ franchise), Josh Brolin (‘Avengers: Infinity War’) , Stellan Skarsgård (HBO’s ‘Chernobyl’, ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’), Dave Bautista (‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’), Sharon Duncan Brewer (‘Sex Education’), Stephen McKinley Henderson (‘Fences’), Zendaya (‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, ‘Euphoria’), Chang Chen (‘Mr. Long’), David Dastmalchian (‘Blade Runner 2049’, ‘The Dark Knight’), Charlotte Ramping (‘Assassins Creed’), Jason Momoa (‘Aquaman’, ‘Game Of Thrones’) and Javier Bardem (‘No Country For Old Men’).

Villeneuve has also produced ‘Dune’ with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter and Joe Caracciolo, Jr. The film has been executive produced by Tanya Lapointe, Joshua Grode, Herbert W Gains, Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert.

‘Dune’ joins the list of other Warner Bros. films like ‘Joker’, ‘A Star Is Born’ and more that premiered at the Venice Film Festival, the world’s oldest film festival. All these titles later went on to become huge global success.

Venice Film Festival will take place from September 1-11 and ‘Dune’ is scheduled to premiere on Friday September 3 in the Sala Grande. Warner Bros Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ ‘Dune’ is later scheduled to release in theatres in USA on 1st October and simultaneously stream on HBO Max for 30 days.
