Chakra marks the directorial début of MS Anandam who has also written the film. It is an action thriller based on cyber crime and e-commerce scams. Other than Vishal, the film’s starcast also includes Shraddha Srinath and Regina Cassandra.
Vishal had tested positive for covid-19 along with his father. Both have successfully recovered from it and the actor is now back in action resuming the filming of Chakra. The decision of direct-to-OTT release seemed imminent to Vishal who thinks the cinemas would remain shut for another whole year. He also said that the movie industry should get used to this new normal.
While Keerthy Suresh’s Penguin and Jyotika’s Ponmagal Vandhal did not meet the viewer’s expectations, it has not deterred other tamil filmmakers from taking the OTT route. Further, the financial constraints have almost made it inevitable for the producers to hold onto the films any longer.
The actor did not specify the platform with which the talks are on but it will be interesting to see how Vishal’s Chakra and also Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru, which is set to premiere on amazon prime video on 30th October, fare in the OTT world.
