Confirmed: Nani’s 25th ‘V’ Goes Direct To Digital On Amazon Prime Video

After weeks of speculation and reports, Nani has finally announced the release of the Telugu movie V through his twitter handle. The movie which was planned to be released during Ugadi this year, on 25th March, had to be be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Reports started piling in from various media sources, since the beginning of the month, that the film makers of V had met up with the OTT giants Amazon. They were planning to release the movie on their platform digitally with further reports adding that the movie will release on September 5th. And now all the waiting seems to have paid off.

The movie’s main star Nani, released a short 104 second video, teasing a digital release through his twitter handle yesterday. In the short ‘promo’, he says that he will miss the anxiousness that comes with the release of a big movie on the silver screen, but he can watch the film over and over again, as many times as he wants, hinting at the ability of streaming platforms to do just that. He ends the video with a cheeky yet cryptic “V have an announcement…. tomorrow”.

And a little after 1 pm today, Nani himself announced that V will premier in Amazon Prime Video on September 5th just as the reports had mentioned. In a crumpled note background, he writes that these are not regular times and this movie won’t be a regular experience either. This being his 25th movie is already special and now it will be special for even more reasons.

It will be a new experience for both the film makers and movie fans to watch the high budget movie without the background noise of a theater audience. With this release, V becomes the most expensive Telugu movie to premier directly on an OTT platform.

This movie will be Nani’s 25th outing in a feature film (as mentioned before) and he is portraying an antagonist for the first time in his career. The movie also stars Sudheer Babu, Nivetha Thomas, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jagapathi Babu, Vennela Kishore, Nassar, Srinivas Avasarala and Priyadarshi. It is written and directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti.
