After months of wild speculation on the OTT release date of ‘Bhediya’, there’s now some clarity on when the Varun Dhawan starrer will finally premiere on streaming. Regular readers of Binged will already know that the post-theatrical streaming rights for Bhediya are with the fast-rising Indian OTT platform, Jio Cinema. Now, as per inside sources, we know that comedy and horror film ‘Bhediya’ will premiere on Jio Cinema on 26th May.
As per our understanding, 26th May will also likely be the date when the new revamped version of Jio Cinema will officially be launched. We had earlier informed our readers that the powers that be at Jio Cinema plan to launch the new Jio Cinema – Voot Select combined OTT platform just before the finale match of the ongoing IPL 2023. The IPL 2023 finals are on 28th May, which makes 26th May, a Friday, the perfect date and day to launch the new Jio Cinema platform.
There had already been news previously that ‘Bhediya’ will be available to stream on Jio Cinema at launch. So the 26th May Bhediya OTT release date aligns perfectly with all of the aforementioned permutations and combinations. Interestingly, there’s no news on the OTT release date of the other much-awaited film on OTT, Hrithik Roshan – Saif Ali Khan starrer, ‘Vikram Vedha’.
Both Vikram Vedha and Bhediya are the most hotly awaited films on streaming. The Hrithik Roshan – Saif Ali Khan starrer Vikram Vedha released in theatres on 29th September, 2022. Varun Dhawan – Kriti Sanon starrer Bhediya released in theatres on 24th November, 2022. Both films will premiere on OTT almost 8 months and 6 months after their release in theatres.
For those who don’t know, Jio Cinema is coming up with a brand new streaming platform that will combine Jio Cinema with Voot Select, into one single OTT platform. Regular followers of Binged must know that Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Cinema has bought Viacom 18 Studios in India, along with its streaming arm, Voot Select. Now, the company is bringing out a combined streaming platform for both OTTs, which is likely to be renamed ‘Jio Voot’.
