Could Fantastic Beasts 4 Happen? Jude Law Talks Dumbledore’s Future

While Warner Bros. has shown no interest in continuing the Fantastic Beasts franchise, actor Jude Law believes the studio should greenlight Fantastic Beasts 4, as he feels “there’s lots more to tell” about his character, Albus Dumbledore.

In a recent interview with GQ (as part of the ongoing promotional tour for the upcoming Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Disney+ series), Law discussed the future of the Fantastic Beasts franchise. He expressed that the story of Dumbledore is far from over.

“I’ll just wait until I get the phone call. I hope [it happens]. What we all know of that character’s journey is wonderful. There’s lots more to tell.”

Given how Warner Bros. is sparing no effort to produce the Harry Potter TV series, it seems the studio has shelved the Fantastic Beasts movie franchise for good. It’s understandable why the studio decided to pull the plug on the series, as the last entry, The Secrets of Dumbledore, performed poorly at the box office, earning only $407 million globally.

The third film became the lowest-grossing entry in the Wizarding World franchise. In addition, factors such as an overreliance on side plots, lack of action, mediocre critical reception, and the loss of Johnny Depp (who played Gellert Grindelwald in The Crimes of Grindelwald) adversely impacted the popularity of the Fantastic Beasts series among the Wizarding World fanbase.

While Jude Law gave a great performance as Dumbledore, the Fantastic Beasts series didn’t quite capture the magic of the Harry Potter stories. With a Harry Potter TV show in the works, it seems we may have to wait a while for another Wizarding World movie. Stay tuned for more updates.
