After a wonderful festival run followed by its theatrical release, Malayalam film ‘Paradise’ is now set for its digital debut. A Sri Lankan-Indian co-production drama film, ‘Paradise’ is helmed by Prasanna Vithanage and will premiere soon on Amazon Prime Video.
‘Paradise’ follows an Indian tourist couple who arrive in the hill country of crisis ridden Sri Lanka to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary. But, when things take an unexpected turn, conflicts deepen revealing cracks in their relationship.
Written and directed by Prasanna Vithanage, ‘Paradise’ had its world premiere at the Busan Film Festival last year where it won the Kim Jiseok award. From there the film went on to premiere at various other film festivals including Mumbai Film Festival, Vesoul International Film Festival, Beijing International Film Festival, New York Indian Film Festival, and Sydney Film Festival. Lastly, the film released for the general public in India in June this year.
Critics have described ‘Paradise’ as a well made drama buoyed up by a raft of fine performances; a stirring, important piece of work that grapples to interrogate questions around politics and the state; the film brings about this reflection of self, and of society with poignancy and that more than anything makes Paradise a winner.
‘Paradise’ is presented by Mani Ratnam and Siva Ananth under his Madras Talkies banner and produced by Newton Cinemas. The film stars Roshan Mathew, Darshana Rajendran, Shyam Fernando, and Mahendra Parera in prominent roles. ‘Paradise’ is coming soon to Amazon Prime Video.
