Crossovers in bollywood movies and shows are rare to see, only few of the movies have actually tried this method in the past. But with the changing cinema, and more means of entertainment, people have been discovering plenty of content which features two or more characters from different shows and movies placed in one, which makes the fans go gaga over it. The recent example can be of “Rohit Shetty Cop Universe”.
Since the emergence of OTT era many people have started taking risks, and imagining a crossover film between two vigilante would not be such a bad thing. Yes we are talking about Bhavesh Joshi Superhero and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota! Each movie had tremendous potential but didn’t do much at the box office. But since then both the films have developed cult following thanks to the OTT platforms.
‘Insaaf Man’ from “Bhavesh Joshi” was played by Harshvardhan Kapoor who was praised for his role as Sikandar “Siku” Khanna, a guilt ridden man who believes that he is responsible for the death of his friend Bhavesh Joshi. And to make up for that, Siku trains hard to become the ‘Insaaf Man’ a masked vigilante, who fights for the truth and busts corrupt people who were actually responsible for the death of Bhavesh Joshi.
The movie brilliantly showcased the importance of questioning the officials instead of just living with the mundane routine and how people in power control the things.
Since the movie didn’t do well enough at the box office, the chances of it’s sequel looked slim. But now with the streaming platforms and the new wave of “Superheroes” arriving in the industry, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to revisit the film.
“Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota” was a successful venture by the makers as compared to Bhavesh Joshi Superhero as it garnered several accolades internationally and was acclaimed domestically as well. The movie followed Surya who has a condition called ‘Congenital insensitivity to pain’ meaning that he didn’t felt pain no matter how bigger the impact was. This with the urge to fight against evil made Surya learn marital arts as he used to idolize “Karate Man”. As the movie progresses we see how Surya fights bad guys in order to save his idol “Karate Man”. Not spoiling the movie, but the makers actually have kept an open mind regarding the future of the movie!
Abhimanyu Dassani did a fantastic job in essaying the role of a dorky young man Surya as he won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut.
Since both the characters of ‘Insaaf Man’ and ‘Surya’ follow the same notion of justice and righteousness, it would be a fun crossover where the serious Siku meets Socially awkward Surya in order to fight against evil. And with both the films having a good fan following, the idea of moving forward will be welcomed by everyone since crossovers generally excites the audience!
