It shouldn’t come as a surprise to many, but we will have to wait for a few more months before we get any news about the second season of the hit anime web series, ‘Tower of God’. The animated series which began airing its first season in April 2020 as a Crunchyroll Original didn’t start off great when it came to viewership, but gradually grabbed attention by the final episode of the first season.
The 13 episode Japanese animated series was made from the South Korean manhwa (comic book) of the same name which was written and drawn by the author and artist, S.I.U. The artist has been unwell for a long time and has taken a hiatus from both the manhwa and animated series. Recent news suggests that the artist is getting better (phew!), but he is still a long way away from getting back to full-time illustrating. But hopefully, the artist will get better enough to help with the animation process, which is being produced by Telecom Animation Film, with Aniplex subsidiary Rialto Entertainment responsible for Japanese production.
The second season of the ‘Tower of God’ was reported to release by early 2021, but those reporters later changed their tunes by December of 2020, disclosing that the animated dark fantasy action drama series will only release the second season by mid 2021. Now, new reports have surfaced that we will have to wait a while before we hear any news about ‘Tower of God’, with the animated series temporarily under hiatus.
‘Tower of God’ follows the journey of a young man called Baam. He enters a fictional, never-ending Tower, to climb it and follow Rachel, the only friend he has/ person he has ever known. Once he enters the Tower, he meets new people and makes allies among them. The series ended on a brilliant cliff-hanger and many anime lovers are eagerly awaiting to know what happened next.
‘Tower of God’ is currently available for streaming on the anime streaming OTT platform, Crunchyroll.
