CSpace: India’s First Ever Govt. Backed OTT Platform To Go Live Tomorrow

In ground breaking news for the Indian entertainment industry, CSpace, India’s first ever government backed OTT platform will be released on Thursday, March 7th. With its development fully spearheaded by the Kerala govt, the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be inaugurating the launch event at Kairali Theatre at 9:30AM.

This service will look to offer 42 films to begin with currently. According to Shaji N Karun, chairman of Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) and a respected director, CSpace is a one stop solution for all the issues and disparities that arise in the face of selecting and distributing content, within the OTT realm.

Whilst being managed by KSFDC, which is a government entity that enhances the Malayalam Film Industry with its unwavering support, CSpace looks to bring to its users a diverse mix of didactic as well as enjoyable content meant for an equally diverse audience. Owing to the exorbitant increase in the use of OTT platforms during COVID, the decision to create such a service came into fruition. It was set to launch on November 1st, 2023 which marks Kerala Piravi every year. However certain technical road bumps forced a short delay.

The process of choosing content that goes on the service goes through a thorough chain of credible panels such as artists, industry pioneers, film festival juries, and such. CSpace will also release movies without any theatrical releases, thereby also supporting up and coming budding filmmakers. The platform does not look to buy rights of films, but rather give back a percentage of the revenue made with the filmmakers, and in the process also tackling another industry disparity very smartly.
