Cult Malayalam crime drama film ‘Angamaly Diaries‘ is all set to get a Hindi remake. The Lijo Jose Pellissery directed Angamaly Diaries is one of the finest films made in Malayalam cinema in the last decade. The film released in 2017, and has gained a cult following since.
Lijo Jose Pellissery is well known for his auteur style of filmmaking, the terrific cinematography, and long takes in his films. Angamaly Diaries features an eleven-minute long, uncut action montage in the climax of the film, featuring around a 1000 artists. It is a spectacular piece of filmmaking.
The original Angamaly Diaries starred debutant Antony Varghese in the lead. Along with Varghese, the film featured 85 other actors, all making their debut with this film. The remake of Angamaly Diaries is being produced by Vikram Malhotra, under the aegis of his prolific production house Abundantia Entertainment. Abundantia Entertainment is the name behind recent hits, Chhorii, Shakuntala Devi, Jalsa, Sherni, Breathe: Into The Shadows, and several more titles. The production house is also remaking Soorarai Pottru in Hindi.
The Hindi remake of Angamaly Diaries is set in the backdrop of Goa. It centres on a group of friends that form their own ‘gang’ to run a business against all odds in a town that’s as eclectic as they are. Goa forms an apt backdrop to depict the madness, mayhem, and outlandish methods of a unique set of characters who are trying to get ahead in life by using every way possible.
