It seems like the Marvel fans are finally going to get a Daredevil instalment. The final season of Netflix‘s version of Daredevil dropped on the streaming service in October 2018. Despite receiving spectacular responses from the critics and the fans, the show faced cancellation by Netflix in November later that year. Yes, this decision ended up breaking millions of hearts including the leading man, Charlie Cox. The actor openly expressed his disappointment and felt like “they had a lot of stories to tell”. However, he entered into negotiations with Marvel Studios in 2020 and Kevin Feige offered him a new deal about the superhero character. And the opening moments of Spider-Man No Way Home showed Matt Murdock (Cox) helping out Peter Parker with his advice. Now, various reports have emerged on the internet about Marvel and Disney working together to deliver a rebooted Daredevil series to the fans. Here’s what we know so far!
The latest issue of Production Weekly reveals that the filming of the highly anticipated “Daredevil Reboot” show may begin at the end of this year or in 2023. It also unearthed that Feige and Chris Gray will produce the show. Gray is known for serving as associate producer for ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ and one of the producers for the Disney+ documentary series, ‘Marvel’s Behind the Mask’. If this turns out to be true, then we may get the rebooted series in 2024.
However, Marvel Studios is dead silent about its upcoming projects these days. It has not yet disclosed anything about the Daredevil reboot series. Although, the dates of both D23 and San Diego Comic-Con events are coming near. Fans are expecting the studio to officially confirm this thing at one of these events once and for all.
So, the question we must ask ourselves at this point is: Will the rebooted Daredevil series be better than Netflix’s original series? Well, we have to consider everything damn thing at this stage. Netflix took full advantage of the show’s Rated-R genre and bestowed a raw, gritty, and hard-hitting portrayal of The Devil of the Hell’s Kitchen with just enough heartwarming moments. On the other hand, the collaboration between Marvel and Disney is prominent for “nerfing” their superhero individuals. Yes, we have witnessed some amazing MCU shows like Loki, Hawkeye, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and many more in the last 1-2 years. But not one of them was as dead serious or bloody as Netflix’s version of Daredevil. That’s why the diehard fans of the original series are worried about Disney’s PG-13 treatment of the superhero character. It’s not like Disney will ruin the rebooted series. It’s just the makers have to play their cards right.
How about we mention the good things that we can expect from the forthcoming Daredevil reboot series here? Fans may get a bit more friendly and cheerful version of Matt Murdock. But the chances of the studio nerfing the superhero character to get a few laughs are very low. The makers will be too stupid to even think about it. But yeah, we should expect less blood and more physical actions sequences in the rebooted version of the show.
All the shows from Netflix’s DefendersVerse are currently streaming on the Disney+ streaming service. And as for the Daredevil reboot series, we should expect an official announcement from Marvel or Disney regarding the show’s expected release window soon. Stay tuned for more updates.
