David Lynch Still Wants To Make His Cancelled Animated ‘Snootworld’!

David Lynch is definitely one of the most popular arthouse filmmakers of our times and the fandom of this living legend extends borders. His movies like ‘Mulholland Drive’ and ‘Eraserhead’ are surreal pieces of art and are considered as milestones in the history of cinema.

He has shared that he still hopes to make the animated movie ‘Snootworld’ that did not see the light of day due to some reason. Lynch was making ‘Snootworld’ for Netflix and the platform rejected it as it was too fairytale.

Lynch had been working on the script for over 20 years now and he was helped by writer Caroline Thompson. She is a regular collaborator of Tim Burton and has worked on movies like ‘Edwards Scissorhands’.

Despite having the movie canceled from Netflix, Lynch still wants to make the movie, though it is not sure whether he himself would direct the movie or not. His daughter Jennifer Lynch might direct it if Lynch does not do it himself.

The filmmaker has said, “I like this story. It’s something that children and adults can both appreciate…I’ve never really done a straight animation but with computers today it’s possible to do some spectacular things.” About the rejection from Netflix, he has said, “Old fashioned fairy tales are considered groaners: apparently people don’t want to see them. It’s a different world now and it’s easier to say no than to say yes.

It will be a great treat for fans and cinephiles if David Lynch finally directs the movie after 20 years. It has been long since the master has produced anything for the screens.
