The first trailer of DCEU’s forthcoming entry, Black Adam, is out now. And it shows Dwayne Johnson in a never before seen avatar. Warner Bros planned to release this one in December last year. But they had to postpone the theatrical release due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After some adjustments, the studio finally decided to keep July 29, 2022, as its release date.
One of the producers of Black Adam, Hiram Garcia, had a long and interesting conversation about the character with Collider last year. She said, “This is a character with amazing abilities. He has super speed, can fly, and has world breaking strength to name a few. “We wanted to make sure moviegoers feel that throughout the entire movie. You’re not going to see him use super speed just once and then it stops, this is part of his arsenal. It’s common to see abilities fall to the wayside when dealing with characters like that but one of our many goals was to keep continuity there and push the bar in terms of how we do it.”
Garcia also explained that the technology used to make Black Adam fly was unique. Also, they tried hard to make visuals as realistic as possible. He even hailed his special effects team as Oscar winners.
Black Adam is the arch-nemesis of Shazam in the comics. The character has been portrayed as a corrupted anti-hero in the comics of the 21st century. And the latest trailer also displays his anti-hero persona. Additionally, his powers are pretty much same as Shazam. Though, it is not clear whether we will see Dwayne Johnson in a future Shazam project. Warner Bros has not yet uttered a word about this case. But an on-screen showdown between Shazam and Black Adam is a must.
Apart from Dwayne Johnson, the Black Adam trailer shows Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz. Stay tuned for more updates.
