DC Studios Greenlights ‘Mister Miracle’ Animated Series

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation have greenlit a new adult animated series, Mister Miracle. The upcoming show will take inspiration from the 12-issue comic by artist Mitch Gerads and writer Tom King. The project is currently in production. King will also serve as a co-showrunner and one of the executive producers for the series.

The television network or streaming platform that will carry the adult animated series will be announced later, but the studios plan to reveal more details during their adult animation showcase on Friday.

The announcement of Mister Miracle shows that DC Studios (under the creative direction of James Gunn) isn’t afraid to go bold and innovative. This show marks the second adult animated project to enter production after Creature Commandos (streaming on JioHotstar for Indian viewers). Speaking of Creature Commandos, the series is currently in production on its second season. It’s also the first official project of Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe.

Apart from Mister Miracle, other animated projects that have received the official green light from Warner Bros. and DC Studios include DC Super Powers, My Adventures with Green Lantern, and Starfire!

The new series centers on Scott Free, also known as Mister Miracle, the universe’s greatest escape artist. His ideal life with Big Barda shatters when their homeworlds, Apokolips and New Genesis, erupt in war. Scott’s adoptive father, Darkseid, seemingly wields the Anti-Life Equation, threatening universal domination. As casualties mount, Mister Miracle must intervene, but the Equation’s influence may already be distorting his reality and undermining his happiness. Stay tuned for more updates.
