Dead Boy Detectives S2 Receives Exciting Update From Showrunners

Showrunners Steve Yockey and Beth Schwartz want to make Dead Boy Detectives Season 2. Their show is based on the characters created by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner for DC’s Vertigo imprint. It revolves around two teen ghosts, Charles Rowland and Edwin Paine, who choose to remain on Earth and solve supernatural cases.

In a recent interview with Deadline, showrunners Yockey and Schwartz talked in detail about their desire to make the second season. They revealed they have had “really good conversations” about how they plan to develop Season 2.

“I think there’s not a limit that we found yet to how far we could go,” Yockey said. “We ended the season specifically to set up a Season 2 because all our characters are going back to London and the agency has expanded. Just all the fun and the new dynamics that we could explore in Season 2 would be really, really exciting for us,” Schwartz added.

Given Dead Boy Detectives’ strong critical reception, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Netflix officially greenlights the show for a second season. The series has a ‘fresh’ rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 32 critic reviews.

Yockey’s latest creation is set in the same universe as The Sandman. Dead Boy Detectives shares a strong connection with the Tom Sturridge starrer, demonstrated by the cameo appearances from Despair (Donna Preston) and Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste). These two cosmic beings are a part of ‘The Endless’, which also includes Delirium, Desire, Destiny, Destruction, and Dream.

Speaking of Dream, how can we forget about Lord Morpheus? According to some fan theories, Charles and Edwin may cross paths with the ruler of the Dreaming in Dead Boys Detectives Season 2. Let’s see what happens. Stream Season 1 on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates.
