Deadpool 3: Why Bringing Back Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Is A Mistake?

And I… will always love you! Who doesn’t love Whitney Houston’s beautiful voice? May God rest her soul in peace. But we are sure that all the MCU fans must have felt great after hearing her voice at the end of Deadpool 3’s latest announcement clip. Boy, oh boy! Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. With this, he will make his MCU debut. What a time to be alive!

We saw Jackman’s Wolverine last appearing in James Mangold’s Logan (2017). And that was a perfect end to the arc of the actor’s superhero character for many Marvel fans. But superhero fans are greedy. They desired to see Jackman’s Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And they are getting what they wanted.

But we cannot ignore the problems that come along with bringing Hugh Jackman back, especially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first problem is the actor’s present age. He is 53 years old now. And we just do not know how long he can keep playing Wolverine. MCU needs a young actor for the legendary superhero character.

A lot of fans also want Wolverine to appear in his traditional blue and yellow suit. The combo of yellow and black colours works fine too. Marvel Studios has picked a red and yellow suit (straight from the comics) for Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in the MCU. So, we can expect the studio to give a similar treatment to Wolverine’s costume as well. But imagining Jackman in that costume is a bit hard, isn’t it? He comes from another era of superhero movies. It was a time when movie studios did not take comic books seriously. Maybe that’s why 20th Century Fox never even considered the traditional comic-accurate costume for the Aussie. How sad is that?

Another problem is Hugh Jackman’s insanely good looks. Just look at that guy! He’s tall, handsome, and mostly hairless. Just the opposite of what Wolverine looks like in the comics. Yes, the Australian actor did a hell of a job at perfectly displaying all the characteristics of the legendary superhero. But it will be great to see a live-action Wolverine who is actually short, hairy, muscular, and looks like a complete savage.

Plus, MCU is infamous for nerfing extremely powerful superheroes just to get a few cheap laughs from the viewers. Look at the poor Hulk! Now, imagine this happening to Jackman’s Wolverine. We know it is heartbreaking. Do you guys want a tissue or something else?

Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have assured the fans that Deadpool 3 will not undo Logan’s sacrifice. It means that we may see a variant of Jackman’s Wolverine appearing in the upcoming Deadpool instalment. Don’t you think that it is a cheap trick to attract fans?

Deadpool 3 will hit the theatres in 2024 with Shawn Levy at the helm. Stay tuned for more updates.
