Behold, Marvel Jesus! All the MCU fans will start calling Ryan Reynolds that after the arrival of Deadpool & Wolverine in theatres worldwide on July 26, 2024. The third Deadpool instalment has all the hype in the world with it, and will surely emerge as a blockbuster. But here’s the main question: Will it really save the crumbling MCU? Well, if anyone can save the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is Deadpool & Wolverine. Most importantly the upcoming Shawn Levy directional needs a tight story and impressive villains. Speaking of villains, a popular X-Men adversary may appear in the upcoming MCU project.
Many fans have guessed that Emma Corrin will portray Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine. In the film’s trailer, a particular shot shows the back of a character. That character is bald and dons a black jacket with a pulled-up collar. That’s the comic-accurate look of Cassandra Nova.
The character of Cassandra Nova is considered Charles Xavier’s dark shadow. Conceived without a body, Nova created a body on her own by replicating Charles’ DNA, becoming his twin sister along the way. The latest trailer does not reveal if Corrin will actually play Nova in the film. Marvel is tight-lipped about the actress’ character.
Created by artist Frank Quitely and writer Grant Morrison, Cassandra Nova first appeared in comics through the New X-Men (#114) comic book series, launched in 2001. Over the years, the character has encountered the X-Men on many occasions. Nova’s most popular confrontation with the X-Men resulted after she planned a devastating attack on Genosha, a prominent mutant island nation. Her evil planning resulted in the deaths of over 16 million mutants, encompassing the majority of Genosha’s population.
Another popular character that will make his live-action debut is Paradox, played by Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen. Paradox debuted in Marvel Comics through the She-Hulk Vol 2 (#3) comic book series. He presides as a judge over She-Hulk’s trial in the comic. Like his colleagues, he is also a TVA agent. It seems like Paradox will serve as a liaison to Deadpool in the forthcoming MCU project, pretty much like the relationship between the God of Mischief and Agent Mobius in the Disney+ Loki series.
Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Karan Soni, Matthew Macfadyen, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
