One of the biggest films of the year just had its digital premiere a few days ago on Hotstar. What film am I referring to? Yes, the new parents Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt’s ‘Brahmastra: Part One- Shiva’. The film has been getting rave reviews from fans who missed watching the film in theatres. Some even seem to be upset with the fact that they didn’t see the film due to the negative reviews but having seen the film wonder why the film got such reviews. While viewers have been gushing with praise for the Ayan Mukherjee directorial, they do have a request to Hotstar.
Upon its release on digital platforms, fans have been sharing small clips of the film on social media. One such clip that gained wide traction was the English audio clip of Brahmastra, featuring Amitabh Bachchan’s character explaining the story of Brahmastra, Dev, and Amrita. While Hotstar only has Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam audio with English subtitles, it seems the film also has an English audio clip. The English audio reportedly is available in the US, on Hulu, the platform on which the movie was released there. Fans opine the English dialogues of the scene were much better than the original Hindi dialogues and hence want to watch the whole movie again in its English audio now!
One of the main gripes the audience had with the movie, despite it being a visual extravaganza was the dialogues, which at times felt corny and outdated. With the English dialogues gaining appreciation, it would be a great idea for Hotstar to avail the film with English audio as well for the Indian audience. Besides, such a move would get the movie more appreciation from the audience, increasing the hype for the next movie from the series. The move will be a win-win situation for both the makers and the audience. Since the audio is already available, why not make it available in India as well? Do hope Hotstar sheds some ‘love’ and ‘light’ on this popular fan request.
