Death on the Nile: Will It Be a Hit or a Miss at the Box Office?

The second trailer of Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile movie came out nearly a couple of weeks ago. And guess who stole the limelight in that trailer? Yes, it was none other than Armie Hammer. First, we should give a special round of applause to the movie’s editing team for removing the controversial actor from the majority of the trailer. They did a brilliant job! Apart from Hammer’s sexual misconduct case, the upcoming Hercule Poirot film has other problems to worry about during its run. Is it destined to become a box office failure? Let’s find out!

Despite its mixed critical reception, Murder on the Orient Express was a huge financial success in 2017. The performances of the cast and Branagh’s direction received praise. It collected more than $350 million during its entire theatrical run against its $55 million budget. But the path for Death on the Nile doesn’t look clear at all.

First and foremost, we should address the bull in the house. The year 2021 did not start great for Armie Hammer as several women accused him of sexual abuse. Some of the victims also called him a cannibal. On the other hand, the actor defended himself and declared all the allegations nothing but attempts to defame him. Whatever may be the case here, but it looks like Hammer’s Hollywood career is over.

Armie Hammer’s sexual misconduct case has affected Death on the Nile’s release. The movie was ready to come out in 2019. But it got postponed as a result of the actor’s controversial matter. Also, the ongoing COVID pandemic forced the makers to push the movie’s release date further.

The forthcoming Branagh’s directional project has a good-looking budget of $90 million. But all the above-mentioned factors will affect the film’s box office performance.
Armie Hammer is playing Simon Doyle, the on-screen husband of Gal Gadot, in the upcoming Hercule Poirot instalment. It means the editors cannot just remove the actor from the entire film.

Death on the Nile has been delayed several times since its original release date of December 20, 2019. Now, it is ready to dispatch on February 11 this year. The supporting cast consists of Ali Fazal, Rose Leslie, Letitia Wright, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, Tom Bateman, and many more.
