Lucasfilm has shocked the entire Star Wars fan base after removing Andor Season 2 from its 2024 slate. This decision comes as a surprise as the studio has only two weeks of filming remaining for the Diego Luna starrer. What does it mean? What are Lucasfilm’s plans for the sophomore entry of Andor? Let’s find out.
Lucasfilm’s 2024 Star Wars slate consists of four shows: two live-action and two animated. Skeleton Crew and The Acolyte will be the live-action entries. On the other hand, Tales of the Jedi Season 2 and The Bad Batch Season 3 will come out as animated entries next year.
The only reason that makes sense in this scenario is Lucasfilm’s strategy to give some breathing room to its 2024 slate. Releasing four shows in a single year is enough. Bestowing Andor Season 2 in 2024 may overstuff fans with too much Star Wars content, a scenario that could adversely impact the show’s craze and viewership. The Hollywood strikes also contributed to the postponement of the sophomore entry’s release.
Apart from Diego Luna, Season 2 may feature Adria Arjona, Stellan Skarsgard, Genevieve O’Reilly, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, and more.
It means Andor Season 2 will come out in 2025 on the Disney+ streaming platform. This strategy will make 2025 the year of Star Wars, as The Mandalorian Season 4 and Ahsoka Season 2 are scheduled to be released in the same year. Stay tuned for more updates.
