Talented filmmaker Pulkit, who had made his directorial debut with the unconventional psychological thriller ‘Maroon’ starring Manav Kaul, has pointed out a glaring mistake in the globally renowned entertainment database portal IMDb.
Pulkit recently took to Twitter to remind that he has not directed the crime drama web series ‘Cartel’ and that his name is being wrongly reflected in the reputed website IMDb. The young filmmaker further requested to give due credit to the show’s real director – Prashant Bhagia. He even attached a YouTube link that corroborated his observation.
When we browsed IMDb.com, Pulkit’s observation was indeed found correct because on the relevant page of the website, all the fourteen episodes of ‘Cartel’ have erroneously listed Pulkit’s name instead of Prashant Bhagia’s name (at the time of writing this article). However, the name was correctly stated in ALTBalaj and MX Player OTT platforms where the show is currently streaming.
Since IMDb is a globally renowned go-to portal for detailed information about the film or series’ cast, crew, and user reviews, this false information stated therein may have been inadvertently replicated by other publications also. Consequently, Prashant Bhagia’s name could have been omitted as the series director by some publications. Now that the unintentional error has rightly and ethically been pointed out, it is now up to IMDb to rectify the same at the earliest in order to avert further confusion.
Pulkit is nowadays busy shooting for the recently announced social drama film titled ‘Dedh Bigha Zameen’ featuring ‘Scam 1992’ director Pratik Gandhi and Khushali Kumar. The film is currently being shot in Jhansi and ostensibly revolves around a piece of land owned by Pratik Gandhi’s character, who belongs to a middle-class background. Pulkit had previously also directed the highly-rated show ‘Bose: Dead/Alive’.
