Delroy Lindo Joins Mahershala Ali in Marvel Studios’ ‘Blade’ Reboot

Delroy Lindo, who was recently seen in the Western movie ‘The Harder They Fall’, is reportedly (via The Hollywood Reporter) being roped in to star in Marvel Studios’ upcoming superhero movie ‘Blade’. The movie is being helmed by Bassam Tariq, who had made his feature film directorial debut with the 2020 rap drama film ‘Mogul Mowgli’.

The Marvel superhero movie will feature two times Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Green Book), who will essay the titular role of the vampire hunter, originally portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the Blade films trilogy (1998-2004). Mahershala Ali’s earlier acting credits include ‘The Hunger Games’, ‘House of Cards’, ‘True Detective’, and ‘Luke Cage’, amongst others.

Details regarding what character Delroy Lindo would be playing in the new ‘Blade’ reboot movie are not yet confirmed. The 69-year-old British-born veteran actor is known for his roles in films like ‘Malcolm X’, ‘Get Shorty’, ‘Ransom’, ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’, and ‘Da 5 Bloods’, to name a few.

Blade aka Erik Brooks is a popular Marvel Comics character created by Mark Wolfman and Gene Colan. He was portrayed in the comic books as the vampire hunter whose mission was to eliminate all the vampires that existed in the world.

The live-action 1998 hit film ‘Blade’ featured Wesley Snipes in the lead role as a revenge-seeking half-vampire half-human whose mother had died of a vampire bite. The film was followed by two sequels namely ‘Blade II’ and ‘Blade: Trinity’.
