Demonte Colony 2 directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu is a sequel to the original movie that was released back in 2015. The movie prior to its release became the topic of interest for the Tamil film industry being compared with Vikram’s Thangalaan and Keerthy’s Raghu Thatha. The movie although had a meagre collection on the first day, the subsequent days brought the film more success making it a great hit.
The film started with a collection of 4.5 cores on the first day. Out of it 2.73 crore collection was made in the state of Tamil Nadu creating a box office record for top first day collection in Tamil Nadu beating the previous record of Lal Salaam. The movie was released in fewer theatres as compared to Thangalaan, still it received quite a good amount of positive response from the audience. The excellent response for the movie has led to more shows which too will affect the sales. The movie had another reason for low sales. It was only released in Tamil. This restricted the audience base somehow. Still the movie bounced back on days two and three and now races on par with Thangalaan which is currently the second most grossing Indian movie that released on 15th August.
The movie has already earned 12 crores, compared to the budget of 2 crores for the movie, it is a great success. The movie further aims to increase its profits and most probably will turn out to be a very successful movie of the year. When compared to Thangalaan, which was anticipated as one of the biggest Tamil movies of the year, and has earned a total of 11 crores in three days; Demonte Colony 2 is in the race with the movie to be the top grossing Tamil movie. On 23rd August, the movie will hit the big screen with Telugu dubbing, and is anticipated to widen its audience by a huge margin. The movie, as has been called by critics as one of the best sequels in the history of Tamil cinema, continues to create records and increase profits and become quite a successful movie.
