Denis Villeneuve Leaving Dune Forever!

Denis Villeneuve Leaving Dune Forever!

Adapted from Frank Herbert’s novel “Dune” is the epitome of classic science fiction, with complex characters and more complex history “Dune” is a masterpiece.

First adapted by David Lynch the movie has a long history which is right now in the hands of Denis Villeneuve.

The first two Dune movies , “Dune” and “Dune Part 2” covered the first novel in the franchise. But, Denis right now is saying that after “Dune 3” he is not going to make any more Dune movies.

Which is a heart wrenching fact to even accept for the fans.

Denis created a world where we saw the conflict , the politics, and the fights. The “Blade Runner 2049” director transported us to the world of Dune.

But, in an recent interview Denis said “Listen, if ‘Dune: Messiah’ happens, it will have been many years for me on Arrakis, and I would love to do something else, I think that it would be a good idea for me to make sure that, in ‘Messiah,’ there are the seeds in the project if someone wants to do something else afterwards, because they are beautiful books. They are more difficult to adapt. They become more and more esoteric. It’s a bit more tricky to adapt, but I’m not closing the door. I will not do it myself, but it could happen with someone else.”

Which is a very understand approach by Denis , because when , “Dune 2” was under development he said he wanted to present Paul Atreides as he is truly, he wanted to make an arc where the protagonist becoms antagonist.

“Dune Messiah”, takes place 12 years after the events, so the characters Timothee, Florence and Zendaya have to age up as well, and according to him he knows how to do it.

Up until now we are sure that the third instalment of the franchise will come from Denis, but Legendary wants to keep the franchise going, as has more novels in the series which is “Childrens Of Dune”, “Gods And Empires Of Dune”, “Heartiest Of Dune” and “Chapter House Dune”.

Although Denis took the portion where he could establish Paul’s character properly, which was his initial goal.

Now after “Dune 3” he wants to leave Dune, but leaving seed for the upcoming directors to follow up with him, does that suggest that , “Dune Messiah” will be in some ways infused with “Childers Of Dune”.

On the upcoming novels there is not much of the same characters from the first 3 books, so the willingness of Denis to give the world of Dune to a other director’s hand is a witty option because then they will be able to play with a complete new set of characters without worrying.

His cast memeber Zendaya Said in an interview that he is a perfection so whatever his decision would be it will be good for the franchise.
