Rajinikanth’s latest theatrical outing Annaatthe opened to pretty poor reviews. The film received a thumbs down from the critics and common audience alike. But thanks to the Diwali release advantage, the film posted excellent numbers at the box offices across Tamil Nadu. Unofficial reports claim that Annaatthe has grossed over Rs 45 crores at the worldwide box office on its opening day. Diwali season is traditionally a lucrative one in the Tamil theatrical market and Annaatthe is clearly benefiting from the same.
Now, coming to the topic, Rajinikanth has apparently agreed to work with the director of Annaatthe, Siva again for another project. It is heard that Sun Pictures, who funded Annaatthe will be bankrolling the second collaboration between Rajini and Siva. Reports claim Siva has already started penning a script that suits Rajini’s image. This project might be officially announced very soon.
Well, everyone is aware of the fact that Annaatthe’s impressive box office numbers need to be attributed to the Diwali release advantage rather than the content. If anything, Siva is being lambasted by Rajini’s fans and general audience for dishing out a bland and poorly-written slugfest that offers very little novelty. But that doesn’t appear to be stopping Rajini from working with Siva again in the near future.
Rajini does have the habit of working with the same director multiple times if he like their working style. This was evident in the case of Kaala and Kabali, both of which were directed by PA Ranjith. The same is happening with Siva now, as it stands.
