Despite Glitches, Gangubai Kathiawadi’s A Global Hit For Netflix

Netflix has landed a global superhit in the form of Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. The Bollywood movie is getting loads of appreciation from viewers all across the world. Gangubai Kathiawadi’s OTT release on Netflix has ensured that the film has received an audience in countries as diverse as Egypt, Malaysia, South Africa and Australia. To add to the accolades, Gangubai Kathiawadi is trending since release in Netflix’s Top Ten Movies list in the USA. This when the film isn’t even 24 hours old on Netflix.

Of course, like always, Gangubai Kathiawadi‘s premiere on Netflix wasn’t without the usual streaming. glitches. There were no English subtitles for the movie in some countries, despite Hindi being the only available audio. In India, Gangubai Kathiawadi was to stream in Hindi and Telugu, with English subtitles. However, the Telugu version of Gangubai Kathiawadi was unceremoniously yanked off Netflix this afternoon. Even English subtitles weren’t available for some time.

Though the English subtitles were restored after some time, the temporary glitch did contribute to streaming inconvenience for Netflix subscribers. The Telugu audio has still not been restored on Netflix till the time of publishing this story.

Despite the glitches, Netflix has hit bullseye with Gangubai Kathiawadi. Appreciation for the movie, its story, and Alia Bhatt’s performance has been pouring in from all corners of the world. After acquiring a series of duds, Netflix has finally got a legit superhit acquisition on its platform from Bollywood.
