Dev Patel To Star In ‘Chippendales’, Helmed By Craig Gillespie!

Chhippendales seems to be getting back on track. With the concept of the film being locked for around two decades but still, the film was not able to get going suffering hiccups in continuous succession. But now as it seems, that the film will finally be going on the floors.

The big announcement for this comes as Craig Gillespie has been roped in to helm the film. With Gillespie’s I, Tonya based on the same theme and has got acclaimed by several awards, it will be a familiar affair for him.

The film will focus on an Indian Immigrant named Steve Banerjee who came to US in search of fortune in the 80s. Slowly he developes a Hot Spot by acquiring the struggling L.A. Club Destiny II. The newly formed club featured Women’s Mud Wrestling as well as a ladies only male strip club.

Soon enough fortunes favors Banerjee as he learns that he is earning about $8 Million per year. Everything seems to go well until greed eventually catches up with them. Banerjee’s partner Paul Snider murders his girlfriend, Playboy bunny Dorothy Stratten, who herself was a partner as she gave several ideas for their strip club, and then killed himself. Now the film will follow the how Banerjee was swept in the storm of lawsuits and disputes.

Reportedly Patel has been offered and selected for the role of Steve Banerjee was quite some time (2017) but rest of the cast is yet to be decided. Ben Stiller at one point was in the film but opted out.
